Why custom parts from China go wrong

Most failures aren't manufacturing problems. They are communication problems.

  • 01Drawing sent. Quote received. Tolerance issue found — after samples arrived.
  • 02Supplier said 2 weeks. Now it's 6. No explanation given.
  • 03You needed 200 pieces. They said minimum 2,000. You moved on.
  • 04Something went wrong. You're emailing a sales rep who's emailing a factory that isn't replying.
The YONG difference

We translate requirements — not just language.

A translator converts words. A partner understands intent. We review your drawing, flag potential issues, confirm material availability, and give you a realistic timeline — before you've committed to anything.

When something changes, you hear from us first.

Built for the orders that larger suppliers decline

High-volume factories have minimum order quantities that make prototyping and low-volume production uneconomical. That gap is exactly what YONG is designed to fill.

Order type Typical MOQ elsewhere What YONG supports
Prototype / first sample 500 — 2,000 pieces Sample run — no volume minimum
Design validation batch 1,000+ pieces 100 — 300 pieces typical
Low-volume production 2,000+ pieces 200 — 500 pieces
Urgent replacement order Often declined Assessed individually — we try

Small-batch orders are not a compromise for us. They are what we are built for.

You don't have to replace your current supplier

Many European industrial companies aren't looking to switch their primary supplier. They're looking for something more specific: a reliable backup for the orders their main supplier won't take.

Your primary supplier handles volume. YONG handles everything else.

Prototype projects

50–200 pieces to validate a design before committing to production volume.

Urgent orders

Your primary supplier has a lead time problem. We assess whether we can move faster.

Backup supplier support

Supply chain risk management — a second verified source for critical components.

Non-standard specifications

Your current supplier said no. We look at it properly before deciding.

Custom Cold-Coiled Springs

Our manufacturing partner has been producing cold-coiled springs for industrial clients for over 10 years. They handle what standard catalogues don't.

Materials

Carbon Steel · 65Mn Carbon Steel · 60Si2MnA Stainless · 304 Stainless · 316 Alloy Steel Copper Alloy Toll Processing (Customer-Supplied Material) Special Materials on Request

Materials sourced to your drawing specification. Fixed supplier relationships ensure batch consistency. Material certificates available on every order. Toll processing accepted — we work with your supplied material.

How we control quality

For high-requirement applications, we don't move to full production until samples have passed inspection. For every batch, we apply the same discipline.

📐

Drawing-based control

Every spring is inspected against your drawing specification. Tolerance control is our baseline, not an upgrade.

🔬

Material certification

Material inspection certificates provided on request. Fixed supplier relationships mean consistent incoming material quality.

Fatigue life testing

For applications requiring cycle life validation, we conduct fatigue life testing before batch production approval — a capability most small factories don't offer.

🏭

Factory audit welcome

Customer visits and third-party inspections are accepted without restriction. We have nothing to hide.

Our quality process
01 High-requirement orders: small-batch sample run first
02 Dimensional inspection and testing against drawing
03 Random sampling inspection during batch production
04 Material inspection on incoming raw material
05 Fatigue life testing for cycle-critical applications
On delivery commitments: Once we give you a lead time, we hold to it. We only commit to timelines we can meet — and if something changes, you hear from us before it becomes a problem.

From drawing to delivery

We've designed our process to be the opposite of a black box — transparent at every step, with proactive updates before you have to ask.

Our commitment

If your drawing is outside our capability or the timeline you need isn't achievable, we tell you in our first response. We would rather give you an honest answer that loses the order than an optimistic one that damages your project.

STEP 01

Send your enquiry

Email your drawing, photo, or description. No forms. No sales portal. Direct.

STEP 02 · Within 24 hours

Technical assessment

We review with the factory: feasibility, material, tolerances, timeline. Issues flagged now — not after production begins.

STEP 03

Full quote

Feasibility, recommended material, realistic lead time, and clear pricing. No surprises later.

STEP 04 · 3 days — 4 weeks

Sample production

Factory produces to your drawing. We inspect dimensionally before shipping. Photos sent with every sample batch.

STEP 05

Iteration if needed

If dimensions need adjusting, we go back immediately. Multiple revision rounds are normal and expected at no extra charge.

STEP 06 · 2 — 6 weeks

Production and delivery

After sample sign-off, production begins. DDP to your door available — no customs surprises.

How we reduce the risk of working with us for the first time

Why YONG exists

China produces some of the world's most capable custom manufacturing. Walk into the spring factory in Nantong — in the heart of China's Yangtze River Delta manufacturing cluster, one hour from Shanghai — and you will find machines that have been running for a decade, workers who know the material behaviour of 65Mn steel by touch, and an owner who will tell you immediately whether your drawing is achievable or not.

The problem is that this factory has never had a way to communicate that capability to a procurement manager in Stuttgart or Milan. Not because of language — there are translators. But because of something harder to fix: the ability to have a real engineering conversation across a cultural and logistical gap.

"That gap is what YONG is built to close."

I work in AI and technology systems. My day job is building systems that make complex processes clear — removing noise so the right information reaches the right person. Applied to manufacturing, that means one thing: making sure what you need and what the factory can deliver are actually the same thing, before production starts.

I am not a manufacturing engineer. But I have spent time on the factory floor. I know what the equipment can do. I know where the constraints are. When I give you a timeline, it comes from that knowledge — not from a sales team's optimism.

YONG starts with springs. If we can make the process work reliably here, the same approach works for any custom industrial component.

Getting here: The factory is in Nantong, Jiangsu — part of the Yangtze River Delta industrial cluster. Direct high-speed rail from Shanghai Hongqiao station takes under 40 minutes. Both Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao airports have direct international connections from major European hubs.
Get In Touch

Send us your drawing

You don't need a complete specification to reach out. Here's what helps us give you the most useful first response:

  • 📐

    A drawing or CAD file

DXF, PDF, STEP all work. Fastest path to an accurate quote.

  • 📷

    A sample or photo

A clear photo with approximate dimensions is a perfectly good start.

  • 🔢

A part number or catalogue reference

We can often reverse-engineer the spec from an existing reference.

  • 💬

    Just a description

Application, rough dimensions, quantity. We'll ask the right questions.

  • 💰

A quote you're not happy with

Send it. We'll tell you honestly whether we can do better.

Common questions before a first order

What is your minimum order quantity?

It depends on spring size and complexity. For small-diameter springs, 200–500 pieces is typical. We give you a specific number after seeing your drawing — not a standard answer.

Are you a trading company?

No. YONG is a single person with a direct relationship with one verified factory. There is no markup on materials and no intermediary between your enquiry and the factory floor.

Can I visit the factory?

Yes. Factory visits are welcome. If you cannot travel, we offer video walkthroughs — you can see the equipment and meet the owner directly.

What if the samples aren't right?

We iterate. Sample revision due to a misunderstanding of your specification is part of the process — not an extra cost. We move fast on revisions.

Do you handle shipping and import duties?

Yes. We can ship DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) so there are no surprises at customs. We can also work with your freight forwarder if you prefer.

Can you match a sample I already have?

Often yes. Send us the sample or clear photos with measurements. We will assess feasibility and give you a direct answer — usually within 24 hours.
